A Word About The New Year

A Word About The New Year
ROBYN BERKLEY

According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the word of the year for 2016 is “surreal.” The term is defined as “the intense irrational reality of a dream.” Its synonyms are “unbelievable” and “fantastic.” This word is representative of the overall emotional nature of the world at this moment, as the countless surprises and shocking outcomes continue to astonish many of us.

This year of challenges and unpredictable experiences has actually given me strength. I have newfound motivation to lay down strong principles and foundations for what’s to come. Through all of the grief I have experienced both personally and globally, I have chosen to rediscover how powerful and magnanimous life can be. “Hope” is one word that continues to help me move forward, keeping me grounded in my decisions and focused in terms of the direction I want my life to go.

Our own personal issues are orbiting a much larger global tragedy, but it’s important to remember that everything that has occurred was driven by a desire for something different. Humanity clings to this concept of “hope” and, at core, wants to make the world better. Things must shift, as we cannot be complacent. We cannot live in fear; we need to find a new order, new patterns and a new way of making decisions to evolve our consciousness as a whole.

In order to contribute to a peaceful world, we must do our own part—whatever that may be for each of you. The concept of finding “the power within” has never been more important. Rekindling and igniting our own spirituality for the sake of humankind is key to our continuous collective evolution.
