My name is: Madison Ortiz.

I’m known for being: Cannabis activist, CannaSmack community manager + @HappyTokes influencer/content creator.

I began my journey with cannabis with the creation of my social channel, @HappyTokes. Since then, my focus has evolved from a genuine interest into educating my audience about responsible consumption methods. It is through that love of sharing with my community that @HappyTokesTribe was born. Through this digitally native forum, people come together to support one another through honest dialogue—which often translates to real life! When I travel, I love to meet and hang out with the members of my Happy Tokes community.

My journey with CannaSmack began with a discussion about product promotion. That quickly turned into an invitation to create my own scent. Thus, the “HappyTokes Peach” scent was developed. It was supposed to be limited-edition, but it quickly grew in popularity and became a permanent part of the CannaSmack lineup.

I now have the title of CannaSmack’s community manager. I’m involved in the daily procedures within the company in many ways, such as curating product descriptions, blog posts etc., managing our social media and affiliates, traveling for events and overseeing retail, wholesale and distribution.

I’m also a freelance writer for publications like Culture Magazine and Hemp Magazine, and support and contribute to several other cannabis-related clients.

I'm talking about: CannaSmack has recently launched four new Soap-Free Body Wash scents, including our collab, HappyTokes Peach! The rest of the lineup includes Rose Bud Bloom, Almond Dream, Day Tripper Delight, Wild Orange Crush and Plain Mary Jane.

You can find it: Available now on CannaSmack.com & Amazon.

How it works is: I know it sounds counterintuitive to cleanse your skin with oil rather than soap. (I too was initially confused before it was explained to me by my colleagues!) CannaSmack’s Soap-Free Body Wash cleanses the skin by using nutrient-rich oil and surfactants to remove excess dirt and oil. Normally, oil and water repel. But surfactants allow you to wash away oil and dirt with water. This makes for a much more thorough cleanse!

What makes it special is: I’ve personally always struggled with traditional soaps. I find them to be too harsh; they often leave my skin dehydrated and irritated. There have been a number of times when I’ve had to discontinue use. Once I learned about the makeup and business behind traditional soaps, it clicked. I was bouncing back and forth between products that were made for profit rather than for the benefit of the people using them daily.

Soap can strip skin of nutrients and moisture, which ultimately causes dehydration. For some, like myself, this cycle of artificial dehydration can cause our skin to overproduce sebum (oil) in an attempt to protect itself, which can lead to body acne.

I use CannaSmack’s Soap-Free Body Wash like I would any other cleanser, but I know not to expect a foam because there are no chemical ingredients to produce suds. Instead, I wet my body, step away from the water, and massage to build up a slippery and silky-smooth lather before I rinse off.

One thing you can’t miss is: This body wash formula contains hemp seed oil, which comes from the seeds of a hemp plant. When the seeds are cold-pressed, they excrete an oil. This oil is high in vitamins A, B, D and E and Omega 3 and 6, making it a phenomenal ingredient for cosmetic purposes.

My favorite secret detail is: No secrets here! We try to be as upfront as possible about our products and processes.

Your body will thank you because: You’re not only taking care of your skin, but you’re taking care of the planet by using products that are cruelty-free, vegan and made with responsibly sourced ingredients.
