My name is: Karyn Calabrese.
I’m known as: A holistic health expert.
My expertise is in: Rejuvenating the way people approach achieving and maintaining timeless health, well-being and clarity, by celebrating the purity of nature’s original design—in food and the human mind and body.
I stay physically healthy with: Meditation and prayer every day of my life. It’s the first thing I do in the morning. I also walk three to four miles a day, when I take the pup out.
I have always said I created my day spa for myself, and I just share it with everyone else. We call my collective favorite therapies “Karyn’s Quick Cleanse,” which combines the restorative and balancing effects of an infrared sauna (sweat out those toxins!), ozone bath (hello, sexy skin and healthy cells!) and the hyperbaric chamber (goodbye, inflammation!).
I also walk, trampoline and make sure I get all my greens in everyday!
I keep my emotions balanced with: Your physical and emotional health go hand in hand. It is all housed in one host. The raw foods journey has allowed me to be more emotionally stable and not experience mood swings like so many people.
I’m intellectually stimulated by: Sadhguru. He is a spiritual leader and author. He makes me look at the world in such a beautiful way. He has an answer to just about everything. He affirms all I have known intuitively throughout my life.
I was recently transformed by: 2020 (Covid). It has been really horrible for the people who have been sick. For me, it’s been a reminder of how much I am responsible for my planet and internal environment. We have to see each situation, good or bad, as a transformation.
In the last six months, the ritual that has become so important for me is: I feel grateful every day for just waking up, another day to do it all over again. I walk my dog every morning and this new neighborhood that I live in is like Mr. Rogers. Everyone is just so kind and pleasant.
Here’s how you can do it too: Detox. Transition gradually and find the foods you love to eat, so you can stay passionate about eating raw or vegan. Meet likeminded people, so that you can share recipes and meals. That will help you feel like less of an outsider, even if the rest of the world goes in the opposite direction. We are all on our own wellness journeys and moving at our own pace. Just adding more raw foods to your everyday diet and eliminating animal products will improve your health drastically.
It helps me live my process because: It’s so important not to make food the whole focus of your life and to balance physical, emotional and spiritual aspects, as well. Compassion for your fellow humans and service to your planet are more important than I can express. I end all things with, “If you don’t take care of your body, the most magnificent machine you’ll ever be given, where will you live?”
