My name is: Tamara Edwards.
My stomping ground is: Topanga, CA
I’m known for being: A community gatherer, a facilitator and a friend.
I'm talking about: My healing sessions called, “Tune Ups.”
You can find it at: Live The Process Beach House in Venice on Tuesdays and at the New Paradome Farm in Topanga.
Before I started this work, I was: The founder of both The BE Society, a global meditation community that came together for weekly meditations and The BE Hive, a boutique wellness hotel in the heart of Hollywood that was on the vanguard of integrating ancient wisdom, herbal healing modalities and eco-friendly practices with conscious community building. Before that, I was a film producer, actor and fashion model.
My interest was sparked when: I focused on deepening my meditation practice in my early 20s to regain a sense of self after a period of hardships. Meditation was the gateway that led me to a world of healing modalities, teachers and mentors who saw my natural gift as a facilitator of healing and encouraged me to open up and share with others.
What inspired me to create it was: During my time living for nearly three years off-the-grid in Costa Rica, I could feel how living in tune with the sounds and rhythms of nature is healing for the nervous system. This modality is born from that place. It is my way of facilitating a deep nervous system reset in a way that is accessible and sustainable wherever someone is right now.
The idea behind it is: I developed Tune Ups to integrate multiple modalities into one elegant technique that “tunes” the physical and electrical structures of the body to clear trapped emotion, tension and stagnant energy. As we re-establish our natural cycles, we bring forth self-healing on every level of our being. I customize each session with a combination of body/energy work, tuning forks, sound healing instruments, essential oils, stones, guided breathwork and herbs. Sessions are either hands-on or remote.
Even one session can promote more relaxation, balance and homeostasis in the body and, over time, the effects compound and can lead to improved sleep, reduced stress and anxiety, nervous system regulation, reduced inflammation, healing of strained muscles, tendons and ligaments, opening and softening the heart, increased intuition and a deeper connection to self and others.
Tune Ups work on the body similarly to acupuncture, except without the use of needles. Some say it feels like a massage from the inside out.
I often receive insight during the session and offer guidance for continued healing and integration post session.
What makes it different is: This work is very subtle and yet it can be profound. It can bring about healing in a way that is simple, gentle and nourishing. We don’t need to punish and cleanse ourselves into perfection. We can, with ease, nourish ourselves into a loving and joyful way of being.
One thing you can’t miss is: A Tune Up session at the Live The Process home in Venice, CA. Feel calm and ease as you move through the rest of your day(s).
My favorite secret detail is: The calming subtle vibration of the tuning forks.
What it means to find balance is: Balance is a dynamic, moment-to-moment-awareness of our continually evolving needs and the ebbs and flows of the ever-changing environment and having the tools to bring them into harmony.
What makes balance so important is: Balance keeps us from falling. And when we do fall, it helps us back up. We can’t find center without balance.
