I WAS INSPIRED TO WRITE IT WHEN:
There was a time when I didn't know enough about essential oils to get their huge range of benefits. I loved their aroma, of course, but there were no ready-made products out there that worked. After years of study and clinical use, I developed my own product line, H. Gillerman Organics, to share my tried-and-true blends in an accessible way. To this day, hearing my clients’ inspiring stories about how they sleep better, feel better, recover faster and better manage the stress in their lives using essential oils every day has kept me on track with my single mission: to teach people about the true efficacy of essential oils.
Today is a new day! Many people are seeing that these potent wonders can play a strong role in their natural wellness programs, but many aroma lovers still don't understand the basics. Sure, we all know what to do with shampoo or mascara, but what do we do with essential oils? You wouldn’t start watching a movie in the middle, yet that's how many people have found their way to essential oils—perhaps buying a diffuser or some lemon oil because their yoga teacher used it in class. Maybe they even love the scents, but say: “I don't think they really work, but they remind me of a spa.” That’s partially because there are so many questions to be answered: When can I use them? When do I apply them? How often? How can I use them safely? Where do I buy them? How can they help me and my family? And, since essential oils are expensive, what are cost-effective ways to use them without reverting to cheap, low quality oils?
Noting all this confusion and lack of knowledge, I knew there was no time to waste. One of the final catalysts was hearing a story from a very distressed client, who got a second-degree sunburn from applying bergamot essential oils to her chest at the recommendation of her alternative therapist. This surely could have been avoided! Shouldn't anyone interested in essential oils know that bergamot is photosensitizing?
This book is the result of my endless passion for essential oils and my deep commitment to helping people see just how much these oils can change their lives.
Essential Oils Every Day lays the foundation for all that you need to know to incorporate essential oils into your everyday life. It is for anyone who is interested.
MY HOPE IS THAT READERS WILL:
Use the book to help identify areas of their lives that need attention—whether it be getting a better night’s sleep, taking better care of their skin or finding the motivation to make a change in their lives for the better—and then buy a few oils, learn about them and integrate them seamlessly into their lives. Hopefully, after this beautifully aromatic experience, readers will continue to explore the next area of their lives too. And, finally, I hope readers will talk to their healthcare practitioners about essential oils. Essential oils will someday soon be part of the way we care for people dealing with cancer, autoimmune diseases and pain. Studies already show how useful they can be for people preparing for surgery. The more we know about them and work them into our lives, the sooner that will happen.
