My name is: Gary Gorrow.

I’m known for being: A guy who can help people do life better. Vedic meditation teacher, mindset coach, mentor, retreat owner/creator.   

I'm talking about: Soma in Byron Bay. A retreat sanctuary on 22 acres.

Before I launched this, I was: Dreaming and conspiring to make it happen.

What inspired me to create it was: An inner calling. I’ve been wanting to create a retreat space for almost 15 years. Good things take time, and I also had to develop myself to a certain level where I could do this with the highest integrity and knowledge.

What happens there is: Retreat immersions of all different flavors. They're designed to inspire growth on physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual levels.

What makes it special is: Soma is a place of magic; the land is powerful and the space is aesthetically and energetically inspirational. The retreats that take place here naturally have a kind of magic infused into them.

One thing you can’t miss is: Meditation practice in the Dome followed by watching the sunset over the hills.

My favorite secret detail is: The forest. She is the unsung hero of Soma and full of wonders. You can explore for hours and hours and still not meet all the exotic species and marvels we have here, like the 200-year-old fig tree, our resident koala, the Japanese Zen garden, the towering bamboo forests and our numerous sculptures.

For me, what it means to hold space is: To create an atmosphere that invites people to meet the deepest and most meaningful aspects of themselves.

Our spaces are so important, especially in this time, because: In this world, there has always been the need to withdraw, recharge and renew ourselves. One could argue that, given the present state of our planet, this need has never been greater. Life is enriched when we have time to go deep within. Life is made sweet when we wash away all the stress and noise of our history. Life is sacred when we get beyond the chatter of the mind and connect to the heart of ourselves.

The work we do can help you live your process because: It’s our blueprint to thrive; we simply get lost along the way. Doing meditative practices is richly transformative and makes an enormous difference in our state of being. Continuing to practice each day leads to the true evolution of body-mind.
