Alex Cohen, Deeva Green and Lee Reitelman are the co-founders of Caravan, a takeaway food and gourmet shop in Amagansett, New York. The trio creates dishes inspired by their extensive travel and passion for cross-cultural cuisine, spices from afar and an abundance of fresh herbs. Their menu changes weekly based on the available harvest from nearby organic farms like Amber Waves, Balsam and Quail Hill. A menu mainstay is the “Terroir Bowl” which ranges from salads—like their Amagansett Nicoise Salad with rose potatoes, purple green beans, mackerel and local eggs with an anchovy-dijon vinaigrette—to grain bowls like tarragon-tahini pesto dressed wheat berries with roasted vegetables and grilled halloumi. Assertive tastes and fresh, local produce are at the core of what they do.
OUR PROCESS: “Food is very much a spiritual matter for all three of us. It’s a pathway to a deeper connection to the Earth. That belief drives everything we do, and it is the glue that holds us together. Beyond that, we try to keep each other laughing, especially after long days and nights in the kitchen!”
